Visiting Teaching

Instead of visiting each sister, my partner called all of them, and we met at a restaurant for lunch. Brilliant idea if you ask me. Well, lunch was great, and the visit was better. One of the sisters noticed something on her strawberry. She thought it was a leaf or a cluster of seeds. That was until it started to move! It was a little tiny caterpillar. GROSS!!! She, of course being pregnant, couldn't eat another bite. Another sister brought it to the attention of the waiter. This was his reply. "Oh, it's okay. Those bugs just live in the fruit." And that was the end of our meal.

Happy Birthday to me! I am thirty! There I said it. Actually I think I have finally come to grips with it. I am thirty!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My sweet husband made it a great day for me. He arranged a sitter, and we went on a lunch date. We went to a movie and lunch. It was great. After that we picked up the kids, came home, took naps, opened presents, ate dinner, and played Simon Says. Honey thank you for my day! I love you! Kids, I love you! Thank you for being the best kids ever! xoxoxo

Thanksgiving 2008

It was a great year! Filled with family, food, food, and more food. There are so many of us that we held it at our church, and did it buffet style. The kids ran around and played in the gym for hours. We had our traditional white elephant gift exchange, watched a great movie on one of the stone cutters for the Salt Lake Temple, then concluded with family photos. That was just Thanksgiving. We had a swimming party to celebrate birthdays, game nights, food, another family party, and to top it off a baby blessing. It was a whirlwind of events, but what a great way to spend the holiday!
I have been blessed with so much. I love my family!

November

What an exciting month we have ahead of us. Not only do we get to vote, but we also get to celebrate National Adoption month. All over the nation they are working to finalize adoptions by the 15th. How great! We also have birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas shopping and crafting. We have babies being born, family coming to visit. It feels like we will be celebrating something all month long. I love months like this.

As far as the camera update.... Our digital camera is officially dead. We captured Halloween this year on film. But, my brother in law offered us his camera that they aren't using. Thank you Lance!

3. I keep a journal too.
4. I have a sixth sense.

" The next time you are tempted to groan, laugh instead."
"...opposition can be an opportunity."
"Angels are still sent to help us!"

Elk

So, hunting season was not successful this year. Rocky did not come home with an elk. Much to all of our dismay. It was a hard month on everyone, but the one great thing that came out of this season was Rocky's health. He has lost over 30 pounds, and is in great shape. I am proud of you babe!

Harvest

I love this time of year. There is a chill in the air, and it is time to start baking, canning, and dehydrating. This year I canned salsa for the first time. It was fun. I made up my own recipe, so it was not as spicy as it should be. It is a good base though. I also dehydrated bananas and squash this year. We ate all the bananas, then I have saved the squash so that I can just throw it in soups. Yum! I love it when the house is warm and smells good. Hopefully I can get one more canning session in before the end of the month. Happy harvest everyone!

Hello Blue Eyes!

This is my darling nephew. He came for a visit this past weekend. His parents, and my parents came too. It was great to see all of them. But, the highlight was defiantly getting to know my nephew a little better. Here is what I learned......
When he talks, it sounds like he is singing.
He has very quick feet. He could be a future River Dance man.
He is a light sleeper, but if he is awake everyone should be too.
He loves being outside and getting dirty.
He makes elephant noises, or tries too.
He has no idea who Uncle Rocky is.
I am so glad Mason came. It was nice to have baby sounds in the house again. Reese and Lacey thanks for coming. I know there wasn't a whole lot happening around here, but I loved having you. My kids are still talking about the weekend. We love you, and can't wait to see you next month!

"Honey, don't be mad."

That was the sentence I heard coming into the kitchen last week. Then I realized what he was talking about.... just another broken broom. No, this is not the first time it has happened. This is the forth broom he has busted. Buy a stronger broom... it doesn't work. We have had brooms made out of all materials, and this is what happens to them. The trick to not breaking the broom is to use it for what it is intended, sweeping. Not shoveling snow, scraping the floor to get up what the kids spilled, or whatever else he has tried. I guess he just doesn't know his own strength. Oh, and no I was not not mad, it is starting to become funny.

Favorite Lines

We have been in school now for a little over a week, and here are some of the things that I have heard from my children......
"Mom, it's so early." r
"When is brother coming home?" (It was only 9:30am, when this question was asked.) m
"I actually get four recesses!" r
"When I grow up, I will take a pink lunch box." m
But, this is my all time favorite.... My son was showing me all his work that he did in the week, and explaining every part of it. He was working on a book all week entitled "All About Me." In this book the students practiced writing the whole alphabet, then they were to color three crayon shaped spaces their favorite color, then label it. Well I noticed one was colored and labeled red, another blue, and the other one was colored, but not labeled. It was colored in green and brown tones......
"Well, I couldn't finish because I didn't know how to spell camouflage, and my teacher didn't know what I was talking about."
So, in case you were wondering, his favorite colors are red, blue, and camouflage!!!!!!
Happy school days!

Hip hip hooray! It's project day!

So, I opened a box last night, and much to my surprise I found several unfinished projects. I was so excited because I thought I had lost this box amongst all our moves. Well, now it is open, and ready to go. I am finishing up on some stitching projects. The only problem is that I do not know what I am going to do with them once they are done. I have one stitched rectangle for each month. Each one has a word and a picture on them, and they coordinate with the holiday or theme of the month. So, any suggestions on what to do with them once they are all stitched? Happy project day!

Wonderful Day

We had the opportunity to tour the new Twin Falls, Idaho temple. What a great day! We stopped at the cemetery first to pay our respects to my grandparents. I got emotional, but I am very glad we went. It caused many conversations with the kids, and we shared memories of Grandma Olive. Next we headed for the tour. Wow!!!! The temple was breath taking. It was such a humble experience to be sitting in the temple with my family. I hope it will just be a first for us. I loved every minute of it. It is so great to have a temple there. Twin Falls was founded by many of my ancestors, and I know they have seen and are proud of the town they created that now holds a house of the Lord. My heart was overflowing with joy. I love the temple and the blessing it brings. I am so excited for Twin and the surrounding areas.
We ended the day by going to Chili's. Rocky announced we were celebrating one year in our house. One year!!!! Yeah! Here's to a wonderful day!!!!

FSA

Rocky and I attended a Regional Families Supporting Adoption Conference this weekend. Not only was the conference incredible, but my in laws came up to watch the kids. It was an extra treat to have them here, and to know my kids were in good hands. (Thank you Mom and Jennifer!) So, back to the conference.... Friday night consisted of a speaker, then a panel of an adoptive couple, adoptee, and a birth mom. Then we had a great catered dinner in the park. Saturday started early (9:00am) with a broadcast form Salt lake, then we had workshops. Rock and I chose "Your Journey with the Birth parents". That was followed by lunch and more workshops. Rock went to a Health and Welfare class, and I went to a Finding vs. Waiting Class. Both were excellent, and we are still comparing notes. The final class of the day, we all met together for a Birth Parent Panel. There were several birth moms willing to share their experience. All, but two, have placed their babies. The two were still expecting, and searching for the right family. There was not a dry eye in the house when these women were talking. The spirit was so strong. During the closing ceremonies, (awards, door prizes) Virginia, (the woman in charge of the birth moms) came over to us and said she felt very impressed for us to meet with one of the birth moms. So after the day was over we had the opportunity to meet and share stories with a birth mom. I won't name names, or share her story, but just know what an amazing woman she is. We laughed and cried together, and no matter what becomes of that meeting, she will forever be in our hearts. We loved the one on one meeting. It was so personal, and that much easier to get to know someone. We pray for her, and her family. I can not emphasize enough how strong these woman are. They have all earned their wings.
Overall, the conference was a huge success. It has touched our lives. Not only did we get the chance to learn and grow from each other, but we met people in our same situation. It is always nice to know that someone else knows exactly how you feel. Here's to you Carly and David! You are now part of our family as well. We look forward to next year's conference.

What do you remember?

Okay, I am playing too.
Directions:
1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I have had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you can remember.
2.Next re-post this on your blog, and see what people remember about you. It is pretty fun to read the responses. If you leave a memory about me I will assume you are playing the game and I will come to your blog. If you don't have a blog I will leave a memory about you on mine. Thanks for playing!
(okay, just leave a memory if you don't want to post it on your blog.)

The Test

"Mortality is a period of testing, a time to prove ourselves worthy to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father. In order to be tested, we must sometimes face challenges and difficulties. At times there appears to be no light at the tunnel's end--no dawn to break night's darkness. We feel surrounded by the pain of broken hearts, the disappointment of shattered dreams, and the despair of vanished hopes. We join in uttering the biblical plea "Is there no balm in Gilead?" We are inclined to view our own personal misfortunes through the distorted prism of pessimism. We feel abandoned, heartbroken, alone. If you find yourself in such a situation, I plead with you to turn to our Heavenly Father in faith. He will lift you and guide you. He will not always take your afflictions from you, but He will comfort and lead you with love through whatever storm you face."
President Thomas S. Monson

8 years baby!

These pictures are from a surprise date Rocky took me on. It was so fun to be back where it all happened eight years ago. The pics are funny angles because the camera is hanging from a tree, and is on auto. It was so nice to start and finish a conversation, eat delicious food, and watch a movie that was not animated. The funny thing is that we talked and laughed about our kids most of the night. They always say that the first year of marriage is the hardest. I totally disagree. What a breeze that first year was. Newly wed, both of us working full time, apartment life... second year- new baby, moving, starting school.... third year- in school, no money, starting to move... forth year-potty training, school, moving, McCall, pregnant again... fifth year- 2 kids, moving, graduation, moving, new job... sixth year- apartment life, 2 growing kids, moving.... seventh year- first house, finally feeling settled, start paperwork for adoption, job offer in another state, moving... eighth year- well, it looks to be a good one. We are approved for adoption, and every week brings new experiences. Rock has a fabulous job, and is very happy. We are loving our house, and town. Our kids are growing faster than we thought they would, but we are enjoying every step of the way.

My darling, I can not say it has all been easy, or effortless, but what I can say is that these eight years have been wonderful. I love you! I love what we have shared together. I love our kids. I love our families. Happy anniversary my love!

On Holiday

So, our Fourth of July weekend turned into a two week event. We first hit the lake with my parents, then headed to a condo with Rock's family, then back to my parents house to bounce between families. The first pics are of my kids sliding down these crazy slides. M was actually doing flips each time she came down. Our family usually dresses all alike when we go out for dinner, so I thought I would capture it. JK! We had family pictures taken, then headed for dinner afterwards. We did get a few looks though. The next pic is of an amazing life size T-Rex made out of 2000 balloons. The last picture is of my great kids all geared up for the long drive home. They were good sports and I learned how to pull a trailer, and even back it up, on our way home. It was a great trip and the kids want to do it all again. I think we will wait a few months though. I needed a vacation after our vacation.

Grandpa was here!

Grandpa and good friend Dave rode their Harley's up for a weekend. The kids had a ball. They had motorcycle rides, celebrated Grandpa's birthday (they made the cake), and of course Grandpa couldn't leave without buying them something. So, now my kids are wearing their new Harley bandannas everywhere. Too cute. Grandpa and Dave also helped Dad with several household projects. THANK YOU!!!!! We love you Grandpa!

HOOKS!

When I asked Rocky if we could have a "hook day" he agreed, not knowing exactly what I meant. We replaced the towel bars in our bathrooms, with hooks. Then we hung hooks in the kids' rooms, and extra ones in their bathroom. All in all we hung sixteen hooks around the house. I have three more, but I am not sure where they will go. It has helped with clutter immensely! Now all the towels, hats and purses have place. It was a great day!

Dear Dad,

Dear Dad,
I love you to pieces. I like to wrestle you. I like to play the motor cycle video game with you. You are a good dad because you love me. You are the best dad in the world. I like watering the garden with you. Happy Father's day! Extra hugs and kisses.
Love, R

Dad,
Happy Father's Day! I like to play puzzles and wrestle with you. I like it when you sing too me at night. I love Dad with all of my heart. He taught me to read the scriptures, so I want to read with him. He taught me like to ride my bike. I like it when he plays video games with me. I love you!
Love, M

Rocky,
I remember the first time I told you you were going to be a Dad...... Your eyes filled up with tears and you hugged me so hard. You were so happy. I told you around Easter, and when Father's day rolled around you just wanted to buy things for our baby, so we did. The second time I told you, you were leaving on a trip, but had the exact same reaction. You have always been full of joy when it comes to being a dad. I love you for that. I love that when the kids have had enough of me, you walk in and their world turns into play land. They love playing with you and laughing with you. You are always the first one they come to for fun. They love you. You are a great dad. I appreciate the example you set for our kids, and the active role you take in their lives. They really look up to you. I love to watch R imitate your every move, and then see the joy in his eyes when he can do it just like you. Then when M gives you that look. The one where she knows she has you, and you fall for it every time. You are the first one they want to tell of their accomplishments of each day. I love it when you bless our kids. They can feel your love and our Father's love every time. Thank you for being a great dad, and loving our kids with all of your heart. I love you! Happy Father's Day!
Love, W

Survival

Well, we survived CHICKEN POX!!!! Almost the entire month of May was devoted to Chicken Pox. R caught it from school , then passed it to M. R did rather well. He ended up with 257 spots. Yes I counted. He tried his hardest not to scratch, but said"Sometimes I scratch around the chicken pox." Poor kid. He walked around as though he was wearing a huge snow suit. He wouldn't let his body parts touch for fear he would get itchy all over. He thought I was strange for asking to take his picture while he had the spots. M was a different story. Hers came on quickly with high fevers. She had them everywhere! She ended up with over 1000 spots. I had to stop counting. The pictures are of day two. M had them in her mouth, nose, and ears. I thought she had ear infections, but no, just chicken pox in the ears. So we missed family outings, church, sleep, and fun things at school, but we are well. Thank goodness you can only have this once!

Oh the things that they say.....

So we were watching the Wizard of OZ, and at the end M says.... "I can say it mom. LIZARD OF ALL!!!" Then she laughs and says, "I just said lizard."

Yesterday we were in Costco, just wandering around, and we passed a woman speaking Spanish. M asks"Mom, why that girl speaking Spanish?" To which R replies, with a sigh, "Because M, she's African."

I love my kids!

ARCHERY

Here is my husband. He loves archery. He shoots his bow, works on his technique, makes arrows, or talks about it when he gets the chance. This is how he likes to spend his free time. We took these pictures so he can study his form and perfect his skill. He loves to target shoot, and to hunt. Hopefully he will bring home a big elk this year.

May 10th

Tomorrow is Birth Mother's day. May we just send our love and prayers to all of you. We had a chance to meet with some of you in April, and we haven't stopped thinking, talking about, and praying for you since. We dream of the day when "our" birth mother will choose us. Rocky and I feel it will be soon. Birthmom, we love you. We treasure you. You are an angel. You were chosen to bring choice spirits into this world. So, tomorrow, we will celebrate you. Happy Birthmother's Day. All our love.

Two Items of business....

#1 Have you tried the new Skittles? YUM! I grabbed some while I was in line at Wal-mart yesterday. They are the same chewy greatness that Skittles always are, but they are chocolate flavored. The flavors are; vanilla, chocolate pudding, smore's, brownie, Carmel chocolate. Delicious. Try them.

#2 We were getting ready for bed last night. Rock was in our room praying, and I was walking out to the kitchen to turn lights off. Then there was a loud THUD! I ran to see what the noise was in our room. Rocky said he thought it was me. I ran upstairs to check the kids. Nothing. It sounded like it came from outside. So both Rock and I peeked through all the windows. Well, we gathered our sleeping children, and made beds for them on our floor. Then we finally get settled down, and Rock does one more sweep of the house. He starts laughing and says he found what the sound was. It was our bunch of bananas that fell off our fruit basket, and hit the floor. So, we had a slumber party in our room, because of bananas. Funny!

Taco Tuesday!

My dad came to town and we decided to meet for tacos. It was great. We had the whole place to ourselves for most of the evening. All the grand kids loved it.

Wait or Weight?

We had a wonderful Sunday. It was my cousin's homecoming, and a baby blessing. Then after church a big lunch. Yum. We spent most of the day there. When it was time to go, we gave hugs and said our goodbyes. As Rock was hugging my cousin this is what was said. My cousin said"Good luck with your wait." Rocky, thinking he meant "weight" replied, "Oh, thanks, I uh, lost 20 pounds or so." Thinking it was a kind of rude. My cousin looked at his wife and got the giggles. They were just wishing us well as we "wait" for adoption. HA! LOL!

I love making rolls! I usually make them on Sunday. I made dinner rolls last week, and today, I made cinnamon rolls. YUM! It is just fun. It also makes the house smell soooooooooooooooo good. Anyhow, this is a glimpse of what I do Sunday afternoons. I play with dough.

Shake, Rattle, and Roll!!!

I am big fan of the reality show Biggest Loser. Yeah to Ali who won last night. Not only did she loose 112 pounds but she is the first female biggest loser. Anyhow, I have been thinking. I do not like to exercise. This is not a surprise to most of you. I may be thin, but who knows why. I am probably the least active person I know. Well, I do play with my kids all day. So, I am challenging myself to be active, and anyone who wants to join me. Let's start moving! We have recently had a family scare with health, and I do not want it to happen again. This person is now active, so I am joining the club. Who's with me? This is my plan. Three times a week. I am easing into it. Let's do it together!

It's that time again...

Yard Sale Season! HA! This was our best find last year. It is a Barbie Jeep, that you can drive. It was only $10, and retails for over $200. The kids drive it everywhere. We love it. What will this year bring...?

Sitting with Angels.....

What a night we had. Rock and I had the opportunity to speak at a birth mother support group class. It was amazing. To begin with, everyone went around the circle, and introduced themselves, and told a little of their story. Most of the women there have placed their babies. There were two grandmother's as well. There were two who were pregnant. One is due any day, and she has a family waiting, but the other is looking for the right family. Through laughter and tears we introduced ourselves, and shared a little bit about our family. We passed a bulletin board around filled with pictures. Just being in this room with these women was incredible. These have got to be the strongest women I have ever met. The spirit was so strong in that room. We were really sitting with angels last night. After the meeting was over we had the chance to sit and chat with one of the birth moms. What a sweetheart. Our lives are better because of her. It was so nice to listen and talk with her. She has big choices in front of her, and we wish her all the best. I can not emphasise enough how special our night was. Just seeing the other side was so enlightening. I love these women, and I wish I could go every week to hear their stories and know that they are well. What a night!

Let's go fly a kite.....

The Easter bunny brought kites this year. So on the windiest day last week we headed out to fly them. I helped both kids get them in the air, and was squealing in delight when M screams at the top of her lungs.... "I don't like this!" I ran over to her, realizing that she was just holding on to the string, and it was cutting into her hand. We fixed all of that, then I looked over at R, and he was almost in tears. "It's going to pull me up there!", he yelled. So, as much fun as I was having, the kids were not thrilled at all. We quickly wound the strings up, and walked over to the park. The funny thing was that when Rock came home from work he suggested that we should go fly kites. Both kids looked at him and said,"We don't want to." At the same time of course. Then we had to explain our adventure. You never know with these two. We did have a ball at the park though.
